Getting ahead in technology careers just got easy and exciting for women in STEAM fields

[LAS VEGAS, NV, January 11, 2021] — To coincide with CES 2021, Abingdon Foundation is announcing their first ever scholarship in the technology field. This is the first award given by the nonprofit in the field of technology. Abingdon Foundation is partnering with WITI, Women in Technology International, for not just one but three awards this year. The scholarships support and advance women in all fields of technology and will include full registration to the WITI virtual Global Summit June 22-24, 2021. The scholarships recipients will receive mentoring, access to dynamic speakers who are C-suite and senior corporate leaders, esteemed entrepreneurs, technology founders, workshops, working panels, and other events.

Abingdon Foundation is a nonprofit created to empower and accelerate the female pursuit of more than just STEAM fields, either recreationally or professionally through conversation, education, outreach, sponsorship, and networking. STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics. Abingdon Foundation has a vision to transform the support girls and women receive in STEAM fields by continuing the mentoring and education process before and after the recipient receives their scholarship. Changes in work and education this year have inspired them to utilize new technologies for carrying out their mission. That is why this particular scholarship announcement is so significant to them. This is the first scholarship offered specifically in technology, coming to fruition on the eve of CES 2021.

The scholarship application process at Abingdon Foundation is unique. Applicants are not required to have any past experience in the technology field. The goal is to invite someone to learn more about the field and meet people who could be mentors or advisors. The applicant must submit an entry of their choice that highlights both their interest in the field of technology and their willingness to help Abingdon Foundation further carry out their mission. Past applicants have contributed marketing materials, poems and other educational materials of their own creation, inspirational videos, or other items to educate, inspire, or work towards the foundation’s goals.

Past Abingdon Foundation scholarship awards have been in helicopter specialties, scuba diving, the tactical and outdoors domain, and the aviation industry. They are growing to accommodate additional scholarship innovations as the need to create future opportunities for girls and women in STEAM fields increases. “With the change in the way people work, network, and learn since the onset of restrictions due to COVID, Abingdon Foundation has seen an opportunity to share our scholarship awards in new and innovative ways, such as attending virtual events in addition to in-person conferences,” says co-founder Abingdon Mullin, CEO of The Abingdon Co. “We are especially excited about the opportunity to break into the tech domain by sponsoring not just one, but three women, at WITI’s annual global summit. It’s a huge opportunity for the advancement of a young woman’s career.” She added that she hoped to see one of the scholarship winners presenting on the floor of CES one day.

People wishing to apply for the Abingdon Foundation technology scholarship to attend the WITI Global Summit should visit the “scholarships” link at or email with questions.
